Electrical Inspectorate
Overview
The Chief Engineer (Electrical Safety) and Chief Electrical Inspector (Electrical Inspectorate) operates under Energy Department, Govt of M.P. The Electrical Inspectorate's work is primarily techno-legal in nature.
Objectives
The main objectives of the Electrical Inspectorate are:
- To ensure compliance with the Electricity Act of 2003 and the Central Electricity Authority (Safety and Electric Supply) Regulations 2010, as amended in 2023.
- To enforce the M.P. Electricity Duty Act of 1949 and 2012, and the M.P. Licensing Board Regulation of 1960.
- To conduct examinations for supervisors and wiremen, and to issue licenses to electrical contractors in A and B class categories.
- To investigate electrical accidents and provide expert opinions.
